"Oh my word! I am the owner of my very first piece of art by Karen Power! I can't stop staring! I can't stop smiling!" ~ Joni Cundiff
I'm a Creative. By that I mean, I use different mediums such as acrylic painting, mixed media, writing, music, photography, and digital graphics to express what flows out of my heart.
I began expressing my creativity by writing little stories in first grade. At age 11 years old, I turned over a trash can and started beating out a rhythm at a rehearsal for my family's gospel music group. My dad quickly purchased my first snare drum and soon after a drum kit. At 15, I started playing bass guitar. The first song I wrote was recorded by a local music band. Since then, I have published stories, and articles, as well as training materials.
I started developing websites for clients in 1998. As a result, I embraced using technology to design digital graphics. I have since created dozens of websites and hundreds, maybe more like thousands, of graphics, logos, book covers, PowerPoint slide decks, and other promotional graphics.

As a gift for a friend's birthday on June 9, 2015, we attended a painting party at a local restaurant. I'd never painted up to that point, or at least nothing I'd hang on my wall. I found a new expression for my creativity...acrylics. That has morphed into its current expression as mixed media art.
I view creating art using various mediums as similar to using our five senses. Depending on what is bubbling up from my spirit, I can choose whether it's seen, heard, tasted, smelled, or touched...or a combination.
